Predictors of binge eating: relevance of BMI, emotional eating and sensivity to environmental food cues

Purpose Understanding humans’ food intake practices is helpful in reducing health problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between eating behaviours and binge examine influence sex weight status on these relationships. Design/methodology/approach A total seventy-eight participants (39 with overweight; mean age: 38.1 ± 6.3 years; body mass index [BMI]: 25 5.7 kg/m 2 ) underwent measurements eating, styles compositions. hierarchical multiple regression analysis performed predict as a function demographic variables. Findings Women presented higher levels symptomatology emotional than men. showed that age gender did not emerge important predictors eating. In contrast, external BMI were found be results indicate behaviour are risk factors for non-clinical sample. Originality/value study, used causal factor rather consequence deregulation behaviour. An individual’s tendency eat may determined by BMI, sensitivity environmental stimuli. differences critical prevention treatment obesity related problems proper dietary management.
